The QVB is without a doubt an unmissable experience for first-time visitors, Sydney-veterans and locals alike. The iconic building boasts history, elegance and world-class shopping that makes for an unforgettable day out in the city. Everywhere you turn there are hidden gems and surprises to discover. Whether you’re going to experience beautiful historical architecture, shop a host of Australian and International designers or delight in epicurean experiences, here are five things not to miss during your next visit.

1. QVB History Tour

Built as a monument to Queen Victoria in 1898, the QVB is filled with a rich history that tells you a lot about the changing face of our city. The 45-minute guided walking tour takes you through the building to discover the glory of the magnificent architecture and all the history on offer. There is no better way to discover and learn about the building than through the eyes of your expert guide.

2. Throw a coin in the sandstone wishing well

Sitting outside the west end of the building, the wishing well is not only a place to invite some good fortune into your own life, but the proceeds are donated to the NSW Institute of Deaf and Blind Children, making it an easy way to do some good on your next shopping trip.

3. Have High Tea at The Tea Room

Located on Level 3 with stunning views of Sydney’s CBD, The Tea Room is a taste of European elegance and world-class dining in Sydney. The food and service are impeccable, and the glimmering, dramatic chandeliers and European-inspired ornate ceilings make for a unique dining experience as you sip on herbal tea, and nibble on scones and finger sandwiches.

4. Be enchanted by an impromptu piano recital at the public piano

Part of what makes the QVB so iconic is the public piano on Level 2. The spontaneity and surprise of who might be playing (and what they’re going to play) is what makes it so special. Sitting amidst the grand architecture as the piano tinkles in the background creates the perfect soundtrack to shopping or a bite to eat.

5. Shop!

The QVB is home to a huge range of both local Australian designers and international brands, many of whom you can only find here. Whether you're in the market for beautifully crafted leather goods, luxurious bathroom essentials or one-of-a-kind jewellery, the QVB has everything you need for your next shopping spree.
